Father, Imam, Brother, Coach, Jama Jihad Shabazz, “JJ Shabazz” left behind a rich legacy as one of the most dedicated and influential men in the history of Galveston Texas. A pioneering hero and model for young men from 1980 to 2020. Representing consciousness youth development, male and female mentorship, prison reform, and reentry endeavors for more than 40 years JJ Shabazz played a pivotal role in his community.
THE FOUNDATION
Brother Shabazz was about serving his community. Being an example and a model for our youth. Dedicated his life to God and others. Definition of selfless. Our mission is positive mentorship and uplifting our community for the next generation.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
Dedicated to preserving Coach Jib’s legacy and uplifting our community we are still working digitally with various community leaders and business to ensure no one is left behind. Since its inception, the JJ Shabazz Foundation has distributed over 5,000 Thanksgiving meals to families in need all across Galveston County, spreading warmth and nourishment during the holiday season. We have also donated to various schools in our area for underprivileged kids for school supplies as well as scholarships for undergraduate students looking to further their education. Empowering voices, igniting change, a community is a group of people who agree to grow together.
THE FUTURE
As we plan on community centers where we can learn real crafts of the world we live in. Outreach programs for single parents and feeding our community, preserving Coach Jib’s legacy one community at a time. We are honored to be the voice of our community, striving for a brighter future together. Join us on our mission for positive mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement.
